The Schoolteacher Fellowship Program is a paid fellowship opportunity for K–12 public school teachers sponsored by the Poetry Society of America. The program offers:

>> Time for deep engagement with poetry, in community.
>> Support to apply your learning to your curriculum for the 2025–2026 school year, whether you’re teaching a poetry unit, incorporating poetry into other units, or cultivating a regular return to the practice of poem-making and reading.

About the Fellowship

>> Sessions will take place at the office of the Poetry Society of America at 119 Smith St., Brooklyn.
>> Sessions take place once monthly on Monday afternoons.
>> Teachers who complete the program will earn an honorarium of $300.
>> The final session will include a happy hour, open to friends and family, with drinks, snacks, and readings.

>> Mon April 13, 1:30–4:30 p.m.: Poetry Across Languages
>> Mon May 18, 3:30–6:30 p.m.: Visual & Found Poetry (incl. happy hour)

About Emily Brandt

Emily Brandt (she/they) is the author of the poetry collection Falsehood, as well as three chapbooks. She's a co-founding editor of No, Dear, curator of the LINEAGE reading series at Wendy’s Subway, and member of the video art collaborative Temp.Files. They worked for twenty years as an NYC public school educator and instructional coach, and now continues to privately coach writers, artists and educators.
