Dr. Joshua Bennett is Distinguished Chair of the Humanities and Professor of Literature at MIT. He is the author of seven books, including We (The People of the United States); Spoken Word: A Cultural History, which was named a New York Times Notable Book of 2023; The Study of Human Life, which won the Paterson Poetry Prize and was adapted for television in collaboration with Warner Brothers Studios; and The Sobbing School, winner of the National Poetry Series and a finalist for an NAACP Image Award. Joshua has received fellowships and awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Whiting Foundation, the Institute for Advanced Study, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Society of Fellows at Harvard University. Bennett is also founding editor of the Duke Poetry Series. He lives in Massachusetts with his family.

Gabrielle Calvocoressi’s new collection of poetry, The New Economy, was a finalist for the 2025 National Book Award in Poetry. Other collections include The Last Time I Saw Amelia Earhart, Apocalyptic Swing, and Rocket Fantastic, which is the winner of the Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry. They serve on the Board of Chancellors of the Academy of American Poets and live in Old East Durham, NC, where joy, compassion, and social justice are at the center of their personal and poetic practice.
