We disassembled the house from awning to beam
because I wanted to live in a landscape painting. Or
at the end of a long sentence where the sparrows vanish
into the fields. Oh, this density. There were days
I wanted to surrender to the physics. For six months
I didn’t believe I was real, and the world stretched
in every direction into minutes. Through the nights
I was still. Then I woke up, and time was my country.
