The 1910 Circle

The Poetry Society of America was founded in 1910. On October 10th of that year, 40 leading poets and writers gathered at the National Arts Club for the first formal meeting of the Society. The 1910 Circle is comprised of enlightened patrons dedicated to carrying on the legacy of the founders through gifts of $1,500 or higher to the Poetry Society’s Annual Fund. These gifts support the Poetry Society’s ongoing efforts to champion the creative work of poets and to elevate the place of poetry in civic life.
