April 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the NYRB Poets collection, a series of pocket-sized poetry volumes published by New York Review Books and featuring the work of poets, from the ancient to the contemporary, from around the world.

Join series editor Edwin Frank for an evening of readings at the Poetry Society of America featuring NYRB authors Melissa Monroe, Vivek Narayanan, and Wang Yin. A reception will follow.

Melissa Monroe teaches at the New School for Social Research in New York. Her 1997 volume of poetry, Machine Language, was published by Alef Books and an extended essay in verse, On Trepanation and Human Nature: Perspectives from Paul Broca to the Present, was published by Smith+Brown in 2014. NYRB Poets published a collection of her poetry, Medusa Beach, in 2020.

Vivek Narayanan’s books of poetry include Universal Beach and Life and Times of Mr S. He has been a Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University and a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library. He currently teaches creative writing at George Mason University and is a member of the editorial board at Poetry Daily, where he helps to select poems and writes short essays about world poetry. NYRB Poets published After, his collection of poems inspired by Valmiki’s Ramayana, in 2022.

Wang Yin is a poet, photographer, art critic, and reporter. His photography has been exhibited both in China and internationally and he has curated the international “Poetry Comes to the Museum” reading series at the Minsheng Museum in Shanghai since 2012. Wang Yin’s 2015 collection, Limelight, won two of China’s top poetry prizes, and his poetry has been translated into French, Spanish, Japanese, and Polish, among other languages. NYRB Poets published his A Summer Day in the Company of Ghosts in 2022.
