Announcing the 2016 Frost Medalist, Grace Schulman

Grace Schulman is the author of seven volumes of poetry including Days of Wonder: New and Selected Poems, a finalist for the Phi Beta Kappa Award; The Paintings of Our Lives, a selection of the Academy of American Poets' Book Club; and most recently Without a Claim. She is the author of a book of essays First Loves and Other Adventures and the editor of The Poems of Marianne Moore. Among her honors are a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Aiken Taylor Award for Poetry, the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Award for Poetry, and a Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. She is Distinguished Professor of English at Baruch College, CUNY, the former director of the Poetry Center, 92nd Street Y, 1974-84, and former poetry editor of The Nation, 1971-2006. She lives in New York City and East Hampton, New York with her husband, Jerome.

The 2016 Annual Awards ceremony, which will honor Grace Schulman and celebrate the winners of the Poetry Society of America's 10 other annual awards, will take place on Wednesday April 20, at 7:00 pm at the National Arts Club.

The Poetry Society of America, the nation's oldest poetry organization, was founded in 1910 for the purpose of creating a public forum for the advancement, enjoyment, and understanding of poetry. Through a diverse array of programs, initiatives, contests, and awards, the PSA works to build a larger audience for poetry, to encourage a deeper appreciation of the art, and to place poetry at the crossroads of American life. The PSA's signature program is Poetry in Motion, featuring poems on transit systems across the country.
