Some Bunnies

Saturday

Some bunny
Saturday morning
reads the paper
pauses in the
travel section—
how to pack for
the tropics when you
have a fluffy tail
that sticks out the
top of your
swim trunks
it can be awkward
but some bunny
is good with a
needle and
thread.

Sunday

Some bunny
wants pancakes
for breakfast
but there are
no eggs
so some bunny
nibbles clover,
again.

Monday

Some bunny
hears the alarm
and turns it off
and hears it
again
and turns
it off and
hears it
again and
panics
and turns
it off
again
and rolls
over
heart beating
"get up
dummy
get up"
but some bunny
lays his furry ears
over his eyes
and thinks
"one
more minute"
and is happy.

Tuesday

Some bunny
in line at the
post office
stands quietly
still
with one envelope
for 20 minutes
waiting.
At the counter
the letter weighs
nothing—
it needs no
extra postage.

Wednesday

Some bunny
sits next
to me
on the train
and we
scoot
our bags
under our
knees and
sit straight
up so
there will
be no
touching
and stare
out the
window
and at
the stitches
on the back
of the
seat and at the
banana muffin
crumbs
caught in
some bunny's
paws.

Thursday

Some bunny
hears from an
old friend
and remembers
things that
had been gone
for years. It turns out
the tunnels
they had dug
together
were there
forever.

Friday

Some bunny
by mid-afternoon
has a raging headache.
She can hear everything
for miles:
the thousands of
cousins and
frolicking squirrels and
chirping birds and
damn them all
to bits and
Taylor Swift.
Some bunny just
makes it back to her
burrow and
scoots down
into the hole that
she dug for
herself, covered
in bits of grass and
dirt and old fur
and some bunny
wraps her ears
around her head
and sticks her nose
into her paws
and is
done,
for now.
